I've been to a few meetings over the years, but Bishop Larry Jackson's Friday night message in Des Moines (back in 1999, I think) was somethin' special. We had just seen the "Cross Builder," followed by an amazing altar call. Then after the break, Bishop Larry talked about the value of our marriages. What made it so powerful is that the whole nation was talking about marriage and fidelity, given the trouble in the White House. Bishop pulled no punches that night. Wandering eyes, porn, it was all on the table (which is what I like about PK speakers who tell it like it is from their heart, without judgement). Finally a high profile organization with a national platform somebody celebrated the marriage commitment! The Bishop invited men who struggled in their marriages down to the front of the stage, and "the pit" was packed for a second time that night. Then Bishop came off the stage and prayed for many of us. I noticed over to the side some bright lights and saw a TV crew doing a story. I prayed they got it right. It was an important counterpoint to the national tone regarding the sanctity of marriage. It gave me and the guys a lot to talk about that night. Today, my marriage is stronger than ever, thanks to God and his faithful ministers of the Good News. Thanks Bishop and PK!
